One man's freedom fighter is another man's terrorist - and nowhere is this more true than in the Middle East. The recent attack on America fills us all with horror, but terrorism - attacks on travellers and civilians - has been around for a long time.

In this short film we first catch a glimpse of the heavy security surrounding the kibbutz where the Diggings team stays, then we move to an ancient highway and finally to the lair of Jewish rebels in the time of Bar Kokhba who attacked travellers on the road.

Interestingly, Alan told me he goes out on night patrols around the kibbutz and has often seen bands of armed Arabs prowling around. I should think that the mind-set of these fedayin is pretty similar to that of their Jewish predecessors and can be summed up by a rebel from another continent: "Give me liberty or give me death".

The second film talks about Tel Mareshah and one of the more dramatic events which happened in its vicinity.
