Susita's Swine

The exact location of Gadara, whence came the Gadarene Swine, is disputed. Some even claim that it was as far away as Jerash. Personally I think that Susita, perched on a hilltop overlooking the Lake of Galilee, must be a good candidate. Right place, right time period.

So, if you've never heard of the Gadarene Swine, you might like to find out all about them - and along the way discover the ruins of Kursi, the link between love and MRI, and why your anti-virus software is like religion.

Curiously, while I was filming the scene down by the lake I was interrupted by a police jeep which came and parked next to the camera, engine clattering noisily. Somewhat annoyed I suspended filming to see what they wanted. The young woman in the car demanded to know what I was doing and her eyes narrowed when I said that I was filming.

"What will you do with this film?" she demanded.

I explained that I would take it back to Britain and edit it, then put it on the Internet.

"You will take it? Not send it?" she asked.

I assured her that I was booked on a plane in a couple of days time and would most certainly be taking the film, not sending it.

"Good," she said. "I think maybe you are making a film and then you kill yourself. It happens," she added in response to my look of incredulity.
