The film contrasts the lush greenery of the Nile Valley near Luxor with the barren wastes between Cairo and the Red Sea, and finishes up on the bank of the Suez Canal as a long procession of ships steams past.

The road between Cairo and the canal is, I believe, the route taken by the Israelites in the first part of the Exodus.
