River Granicus

	A small river that played a crucial role in the conquest of the world

Alexander's first battle against the Persians was at the Granicus River. Needless to say, it was a resounding victory for the Greeks - but for a while it was touch-and-go with the fearsome phalanx halted by the steep banks of the stream.
