Turkey has many ruins from the Greek and Roman periods, but none, perhaps, more beautiful than the ruins of Aphrodisias. Set in a wide plain surrounded by rugged mountains, the city was obviously large and wealthy, with a high standard of living for its citizens. Dedicated to Aphrodite, the goddess of love, the city provided plenty of entertainment, two theatres and a huge stadium - now the best preserved stadium in the world.

In this film we visit some of the main attractions of the city, including the huge temple to the patron goddess and the splendid gateway to her precincts.
