Wigmore and the Vox Corvi

A raven with a message of peace*
A raven with a message of peace

The village was attractive enough and its church, on a knoll above the houses, looked interesting enough to bother with climbing up to it. We were almost deafened by the noise of crows - or were they ravens? - in the churchyard trees.

Inside the church was a little disappointing. There was a section of herringbone wall, but the font was uninspiring, the pulpit plain and the rainbow behind the altar was garishly modern. I was on the point of walking out when I spotted a leaflet about the church and discovered that I had struck gold - black gold, with feathers!

I won't retell the story here - watch the film for it, or do your own search on the internet.

After filming in the church, we didn't leave ourselves enough time to climb up to the castle that overlooks the village - its a 20 minute hike each way - but I can thoroughly recommend the village, the castle and the church. Just don't waste time hunting for the signposted carpark; it isn't there or if it is it is well hidden. Park in the main street and enjoy your visit.
