An open day at Denbigh Castle gave the opportunity for various people to speak about the attractions on offer in Denbighshire, from the castle itself - and other castles within the county - to older monuments such as Eliseg's Pillar or the even older hill forts that crown the Clwydian Hills, right down to the modern day with attractions for those who simply want to have fun.

There's fine dining for the gourmand or simply fish'n'chips for the hungry, fine art for the aesthete or pop concerts for the undiscriminating, nature trails and sweeping views for the contemplative and night clubs for the frantic socialite.

As the films on this website show, I class myself with the former and fail to see the attraction of waking up on Sunday morning (or more likely afternoon) unable to remember what you did the night before but knowing that you must have had a good time because you have a splitting headache and there's a puddle of vomit at the foot of the bed.

No thanks. I'll stick with bird song and the gentle breeze ruffling your hair as you stand on some hill top and gaze along the misty Vale of Clwyd towards the silver of the distant sea.
