Heather and Hill Forts

Some years ago there was a fire up on Penycloddiau which burned a large swathe of heather. An ecological disaster, of course, but a bonanza for the archaeologists and those involved in learning more about the hill forts which crown just about every summit in the Clwydian Range.

I had the pleasure of interviewing Helen Mrowiec - Polish name, Welsh accent - who at that time was the Heather and Hill Forts Project officer. In this film she talks about the Clwydian hill forts which, I may say, make very pleasant walks in the right weather. At one time or another I've been up to them all and can thoroughly recommend them for a delightful ramble in the fresh air, with tremendous views out to sea and across to England.
