A Glider Flight

A Glider Flight

Just below the Horseshoe Pass is a large field that is used by the North Wales Gliding Club. A (not so) loving son bought me a "taster" session as a birthday present, for although I am terrified by heights, I have no fear of flying.

Alas, that final statement only holds true for commercial jets! Crammed into the tiny cockpit of a fragile fabric glider is a different matter entirely - especially when the tow rope snapped on the first attempt at a launch!

We finally got off the ground and I was so busy clutching the sides of the cockpit - what good I thought that would do me, I do not know - that I entirely failed to enjoy the views over the Horseshoe Pass and down to the sea at Rhyl which the pilot insouciantly pointed out to me. The best part of the whole experience was landing back on solid ground!

Those less scared of heights than myself might like to visit the website of the club in question and perhaps even venture on their own taster session.
