On the eastern edge of Forres - and appropriately, right outside the police station - is an insignificant bit of stone set into the pavement. Known as "the Witches Stone", it marks the spot where a witch was burned - but nothing so tame as a stake and a chain for the witches of Forres!

No, it was something altogether more gruesome that awaited you if you were a witch in Forres, or, what was more likely, were simply an unfortunate old woman accused of witch-craft. Being burned alive was probably a welcome end to your sufferings!
