Only the foundations remain of a village wiped out by sheep |
When we saw the signs pointing off to "Deserted Medieval Village" we couldn't resist going to investigate. In a way, it was somewhat disappointing: all we saw were a few hummocks on the grassy hillside plus some excavated foundations (and, of course, the village church). On the other hand, it was a lovely walk down to the site of the village and it was interesting to learn about the mill pond that survived because of fish, the church that collapsed thanks to a robbery, and the railway sign that was never replaced.
Interesting stuff.
