Spaldwick is a small, insignificant village - probably a dormitory for commuters to Cambridge or Bedford - but the tall spire of its church of St James dominates the surrounding countryside. We are very lucky to have this spire, for back in the mid-1300s building work came to a sudden and dramatic halt. The film explains why.
