"Greater love hath no man . . ." is a phrase often used to describe those who were killed while serving their fellow men. Many of those who thus died did not expect to pay the ultimate price and it may be a moot point whether they "laid down" their lives or had them taken from them! There can be no such doubt about the people of Eyam who quite cold-bloodedly chose to risk their lives in order to save the lives of their neighbours.

Eyam is a charming village and worth a visit, but please boycott the parish church until they adopt a more enlightened attitude towards photography.
