Buxworth Well Dressing

I have long wanted to film well-dressing, but circumstances always seemed to conspire against it. I was delighted, therefore, to see a hand-lettered sign pointing off the road through Whaley Bridge to "Buxworth Well-dressing". It was getting late, but I couldn't miss the opportunity.

To my delight I found not just one of these fantastic floral pictures but four - and each one of t hem a real work of art. It's not just the use of coloured petals and leaves to make the picture, but the clever use of plant materials to provide texture, that makes these pictures so truly outstanding. That, and the patience required to strip hundreds of little cones off leylandii or to search for just the right type of feathered grass, leaves me dumb with admiration.
