Kuringai Chase National Park is a lovely area of untouched bush in the northern suburbs of Sydney, with a winding road that runs down to the peaceful cove of Bobbin Head. There is a visitors' centre, crammed full of interesting displays about the history of the chase, and lots of well marked paths that enable you to explore the park in safety.

As you stride through the bush, keeping a sharp eye out for snakes or spiders, laughing along with the kookaburra and marvelling at the wild flowers, you will no doubt be hoping to see some of Australia's famous fauna, such as kangaroos or koala bears. What you won't be expecting is to come face to face with a sphinx!

Yet there it is, Australia's only sphinx in the wild, very rare and no doubt protected. If you want to know how it got there, watch the film.
