My father uncovers the vase at Beit Shan

About twelve years ago we found an alabaster vase while excavating at Beit Shan in Israel. In this film I describe the discovery and then draw on the writings of the ancients to use the vase to illustrate a well-known story from the life of Jesus.

For many years during the Iron Age Beit Shan was the seat of an Egyptian governor, a fact which the Bible fails to mention. It was probably during this time that the fine alabaster vase was imported to Beit Shan and was used by a homesick governor to remind him of home!
