Baptism is the formal ceremony by which a person becomes a Christian. Although it is practised in a number of different ways, most Christians are agreed that immersion is the preferred method and usually accept that adulthood is the best time.

When I visited Israel early in 2005 I was able to film a baptism in the River Jordan (many thanks to the good folk of Denver for allowing me to share this intimate moment). When I chatted to the pastor afterwards, however, I got a surprise: he was a most suitable person to be baptising there!
