Baptism by immersion*
Baptism by immersion

In accordance with Jewish tradition, "baptism" - the Greek word means "submerged" - involved dipping yourself or someone else completely under the water. When Jesus was baptised by His cousin, that is what would have happened.

Although, for convenience' sake, many churches substitute pouring a little water over a baby's head, the practice of baptism by immersion is wide-spread. As a clergyman, I have had the pleasure of baptising many people, but the occasions that gave me greatest pleasure were when I baptised my own sons and now my grandsons.

The first film is of the baptism of my oldest grandson.
