Debt Counselling

*
One of many charities that help people in debt

There is nothing worse than debt - that gnawing feeling in the pit of your stomach as you realise that there are bills to pay and nothing with which to pay them! Families break up because of it, people commit suicide for the same reason, and when times are hard - as they are at the start of 2009 - more people than ever will be facing the harsh realities of no work, no credit and no money.

That is why a successful businessman, Nigel Spears of Buckles Investment Services Ltd, is setting up a Debt Counselling service. He will offer free advice to anyone who is either in debt or who wants to avoid getting into debt, helping you to draw up a realistic budget and, if necessary, contacting creditors on your behalf. If the worst comes to the worst and it is impossible to pay off your debts, then you can be sure of a sympathetic ear and advice that will be fair and impartial.

There are other organisations that offer a similar service, such as CAP, which in Britain can be contacted on 0800 328 0006. There are other charities and services in other parts of the world, so if you are in debt, please contact one of them. They can't and won't pay your debts off for you, but they will help you get things under control. The process of getting out of debt may well be painful, but it will be worth it in the end.
