With the Iron Curtain in tatters, William Hughes, psychologist, decides that the time is ripe to take a holiday in Poland. He returns with an unusual souvenir - a girl who has been tortured and abused by a gang of criminals.

As the months pass, he finds himself falling in love with his purchase, but the obstacles to a happy ending are as formidable as they are unexpected. Can William and the girl he bought find happiness or will real life ultimately prove too much?

Bought had me spellbound - I could not put it down before I finished it. Unfortunately I had to read the last pages very fast because it was almost midnight and I still had to bath and wash my hair! I finally made it into bed after 1.00 am. The tension as well as the storyline is superb. It is an excellent plot - a real "tear jerker". I really liked this book!
